Planetenplein

The neighborhood:

The Planetenbuurt was developed as a working-class neighborhood after the war. The entire area has been designated by the Municipality of Haarlem as a 'beschermd stadsgezicht' due to its spatial layout, characteristic post-war reconstruction architecture, green character, and overall cohesion. It contrasts with the older city center but forms an important part of Haarlem’s modern heritage.

The house:

Located in the Planetenbuurt, this house sits on Planetenplein. After renovation, the generous width of the house has been fully utilized. A slender steel-framed glass façade blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors. The part of the home adjacent to this façade accommodates the kitchen with an island, the dining table, and a play area. In this way, the residents are often together in the same space. Behind the reconstructed ensuite cabinet with sliding doors lies the living room, offering the possibility to retreat and enjoy some privacy.
